カタコンベの写真を中心に独自の方法で制作した新作展
Exhibition of the recent works in his own unique method
composed of “Catacombe” and others

ローマのアッピア街道沿いにあるカタコンベ（地下墓地）を訪れたのは、 1983年だった。薄暗い地下空間に、おびただしい数の亡骸があった。 夢中で撮影したが、カタコンベの写真は、ネガのまま、お蔵入りしていた。 あれから34年の月日が流れ、やっと表現できるプリントに辿りついた。 カタコンベとの出会いは、その後の写真とのかかわりに大きな影響を与えたと思う。 古典技法を始めたのも、このプリントを求めてのことだったのかもしれない。 雨宮一夫 It was1983, I visited “Catacombe” (cemetery underground),lies along the Appian Way in Rome. In this subterranean place, there were innumerable mummified remains of persons’ bodies. I was caught up in taking photographs of them. However, I couldn’t print them for a long time. It took me 34 years to finish these photos from the negatives. I wonder that this chance encounter with “Catacombe” had a major influence on my later works,which is using alternative method.
