2018年3月、M.G.RAIN セッション展で東京（日本）デビューした
二人のアメリカ人作家による写真展。
様々な古典技法で身近な風景の写真作品を制作している Jeffery M Graves は、
19世紀の技法フォトグラヴュールで、Lloyd A Greene は、テスト飛行技師をしていた経験をもとにライト兄弟が大空へ飛び立ったハフマン飛行場の風景をプラチナ/パラディウムプリントで表現している。 コロラド州とオハイオ州に在住する二人がそれぞれのAMERICANA（アメリカ風物誌） を切り取った作品を日本で初めて発表する。
Images from Familiar Places by Jeffery M Graves The images in this project represent a body of work that was captured during daily walks near my home and natural spaces that I frequent. The original intention of these walks was not to make images but served as a form of meditation and reflection of my daily activities. An act of decompression, a chance to slow down. Some of these places I had visited for years before I decided to carry a camera with me. It wasn’t until I peeled away the outer layers of my daily life that I started to see this simple yet complex landscape. I have a choice of two very old film cameras that now accompany me (at times) on these walks. Both from the 1950’s, a Rolleiflex TLR and a Leica IIf screw mount. My film is hand processed then the selected negatives are scanned and printed digitally as positives on clear transparency film. The transparency is then placed onto a light sensitive polymer plate (Solar Plate) and exposed to ultraviolet light which hardens the polymer creating an etched plate of depressions for etching ink to reside. The plate is then wiped with ink, placed onto a piece of humidified paper then rolled thru an etching press which creates a positive image impression onto paper. / 日々の風景から このシリーズは、日々の散歩で、自宅近隣の景色や、慣れ親しんだ自然の中に捉えたイメージを作品にしたものである。この散歩は、日常の諸々を静かに考察するため、リラックスするための習慣であり、作品イメージを膨らませることが目的ではなかった。ある時、数年前に歩いた幾つかの場所にカメラを持って行くことにした。日々の習慣という一面を取り払い、あらためて見る風景は、シンプルだが様々な表情を内包していた。作品は、2台の古いフィルムカメラで撮影した。（1950年代製造のRolleiflex TLR と Leica IIf screw mount）フィルムは、自分で現像し、選んだネガを透明なフィルムにスキャンする。ポジ状態に出来上がったスキャンフィルムを感光性樹脂板 ( polymer plate / solar plate ) に密着させ、紫外線にあてる。紫外線で硬化する樹脂板にはフィルム画像の凹凸ができる。そこにインクと湿らせた紙を載せ、プレス機でプリントする方法で制作した。作品はポジティブのイメージである。
The Huffman Flying Field by Lloyd A Greene There is an expanse of tall grass at the end of the Air Force Base main runway in Dayton Ohio. That place is called Huffman Flying Field, and it is part of the US National Park system. Huffman Field is a place where people can enjoy many outdoor naturalist activities such as hiking, birding or wildflower gazing. However, Huffman Field is primarily known as the world’s first airport and the place where Orville and Wilbur Wright spent the better of 10 years perfecting their flying machine. Then, most people referred to the place as “Simms Station.” […] It is a place where I wanted to make pictures. […] Because I was a Test Flight Engineer before I began my career in photography, I began to look at my subject not only through the eyes of a photographer who must rely on artistry and composition, but also with the concept of flight experimentation and testing. […] From a photographic standpoint, I decided to use technology that would have provided results similar to the images captured in the early 20th century. The Wrights used a 5 x 7 large format camera with glass plates. I mimicked their camera with my 1962 Deardorff large format camera. A key difference was that I used modern black and white film. […] I made this print with platinum and palladium and the remaining portfolio from contact negatives over a two-year period. / ハフマン飛行場 オハイオ州デイトンにある空軍基地のメイン滑走路の端に、広大な草原が広がっている。そこはハフマン飛行場と呼ばれる国立公園で、ハイキング、野鳥や野生動物の観察など、多くの自然を楽しむことができる場所。世界で最初の空港として知られており、オービルとウィルバー・ライト（ [ライト兄弟] ）が飛行機を完成するために10年間を費やした場所である。ここはかつて「シムズステーション」とも呼ばれていた。この場所を撮影したいと思った。私は写真を始める前、テスト飛行技師だったので、写真家としての目だけでなく、飛行技師の目でこの場所を撮影した。20世紀初頭の技法で作品を制作した。ライト兄弟が5 x 7の大判カメラとガラス板で写真撮影していたので、それに倣い1962年のディアドロフ大判カメラで撮影。違いは、ガラス板が、現代の白黒フィルムになったこと。撮影から2年以上の歳月をかけ、プラチナ/パラディウムでプリントした。
